ZACHARY J. TONIATTI, 18 years old - With his loving family by his side, Zachary passed peacefully into the loving hands of God on Friday, September 27, 2024, after a two and one-half year courageously fought battle with myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia.
Zachary was a 2024 proud graduate of Indian River High School in Philadelphia, NY. Despite his illness, Zach had a very positive attitude toward life, enjoyed being a teenager, loved to joke and tease in a fun-loving way, and loved video gaming and playing basketball. He loved family get-togethers and parties, visits to Sunset Beach in North Carolina, and was thrilled with the special “Make-A-Wish” experience at Disney World and Universal Studios this summer with his parents and family.
Zachary was born on September 15, 2006, and is the beloved son of Jeffrey Toniatti (Regina Toniatti) and the late Melissa Morine Toniatti; his beloved siblings, Margaret Toniatti Horton (Alex), Evan Morine (Sydney), and Carter Toniatti. In addition, he is the cherished grandson of Daniel and Gina Toniatti, Charles and the late Eileen Morine, and Diane Chocquette. He is survived by many aunts, uncles, a niece, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He will be missed by his best dog friends, Champ, Skye, and Chase.
Zachary’s family would like to thank all our family and friends who gave us constant support and kept us in their prayers throughout this difficult journey; the doctors, nurses, and staff at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and at the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse who tirelessly strove to provide the best care and support to Zachary and our family; the teachers and staff at Indian River School District who accommodated Zach’s academic and medical needs throughout his high school years allowing him to graduate with his class which was so important to him; The Make-A-Wish Foundation who gave Zach and our family a chance to have a wonderful summer vacation this year; and the caring nurses at Hospice of Jefferson County.
Relatives and friends may call at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, 117 No. Massey Street, Watertown, New York on Tuesday, October 1, from 5p.m. to 7p.m. with a prayer service to follow at 7 p.m..
