Susan was born on November 5, 1937, in Japan to Kim Jung and Ye Sun Kim. She was raised in Japan, where she met the love of her life, SGT Joseph H. LeClair of Tupper Lake, who was serving in the United States Air Force during World War II. After his honorable discharge, Joseph returned to Japan and, upon completion of Susan’s naturalization, she joined him in the United States at age 18. They were married and made a home in Black River, where they spent the majority of their married life together.
She had a dedicated career, working at BOMAX until it closed, followed by positions at Fisher Cast and Current Applications, where she worked until her retirement. Her husband, Joseph, owned and operated Custom Communications for many years until his passing on August 16, 1990.
Susan was a beloved member of the Cosmopolitan Club and found joy in dancing, trips to the casino with her dear friend Sharon Campbell, and cherished moments with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim S. and Tim J. Rogers of Hammond, NY; her two grandchildren, Mason and Kennedy Rogers; her companion of 30 years James Garrett, of Philadelphia, NY; and her three brothers: Jung Ha Kim, Jung Hun Kim and his wife Jeon Sen, all of New Jersey, and Jung Uy Kim and his wife Diane of Watertown, NY; and four nieces.
A funeral service will be held at the Hart and Bruce Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 3rd, at 11 a.m., followed by entombment at Glenwood Mausoleum. The family will host a celebration of Susan’s life afterward at the Watertown American Legion from 1 to 3 p.m.
