Shirley A. Taylor, 90, of Black River, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on April 2, 2025.
She was born on February 9, 1935, in Watertown, NY, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Hota) St. Joseph. Shirley graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy in 1952 and began her career at Stebbins Engineering, where she met her husband, Harold Taylor. The couple married on May 6, 1956, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church.
A devoted homemaker, Shirley enjoyed bowling, camping, and traveling to Florida. She cherished time spent with family and friends and spent 29 winters in Lakeland, Florida.
Shirley is survived by her seven children, Arthur W. “Skip” (Marilee) Taylor, Oswego. NY, Christina A. “Tina” Fargo, Black River, NY, Margaret “Peggy” (Wayne) Arnold, Croghan, NY, Paul Charles (Cathy) Taylor, Black River, NY, Lori L. (Michael) Ocompo, GA, Jamie (Helen) Taylor, Evans Mills, NY and Alan Taylor and his companion Evelyn Christian, Great Bend, NY; 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; two brothers and their wives, John (Linda) St. Joseph of Ogdensburg, NY, Michael (Diana) St. Joseph of Watertown, NY; two sisters in law, Rosemary “Tinker” St. Joseph of Philadelphia, PA and Lucy St. Joseph, of Texas; four sisters and two brothers in law, Mary Gracey of Rutland, NY, Sylvia (Jim) Ackers, Michigan, Anne Gagnon of Florida, Madelyn (Ed) Kramer of Arizona, and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Harold, and three brothers, Charles, Thomas and Steven St. Joseph.
Arrangements are with Bruce Funeral Home, Black River. Per Shirley's wishes, she will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
