Pauline E. Welser

Pauline E. Welser, 90, of Theresa, New York, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at River Hospital in Alexandria Bay, New York.

She was born on February 24, 1935, in the town of Pamelia, NY, daughter of John and Irene (Nellis) Wenk. Pauline began her education in a one-room schoolhouse on Rocky Ledge before transferring to Evans Mills High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1953.

On June 24, 1953, she married Robert Welser at the Evans Mills Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Evans Mills, where Robert and his brother Ernest owned and operated the family farm, Pleasant Creek Dairy Farm. Pauline served as the farm’s bookkeeper and assisted in daily operations, all while raising their family. She was a devoted homemaker.

Later in life, Pauline moved to the village of Evans Mills and eventually to Theresa, where she resided with her daughter.

Pauline was an active member of the Methodist Women’s Group and volunteered at countless church fundraisers and dinners. She also sang in the church choir and found great joy in music and dancing in her younger years. A lover of nature, she especially enjoyed watching wild birds.

She is survived by her eight children and their spouses; John and Joan (Theobald) Welser of Cincinnati, OH, Russell Welser of Phelps, NY, Nancy and Gregory Ervin of Pulaski, NY, Lucinda and Robert West of Franklin, TN, Carol and Patrick Cunningham of Ogdensburg, NY, Ronald Welser of Midway, GA, Jean and David Decker of Theresa, NY and Trudy and Kevin Wagner of Norwich, OH.

In addition to many nieces and nephews, she was predeceased by her parents, sister Arlene, brother Arnold, and her beloved husband, Robert, who passed away in 1985. 

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Sanford Corners Cemetery.
