Otis L. Emmert, of Watertown, New York, passed away on June 11, 2024 at the Samaritan Medical Center.
He was born on August 7, 1968, in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Dennis and Carolyn (Meadors) Emmert. Otis graduated from high school in Springfield, Missouri, in 1986, where he excelled in tennis. He then earned an associate’s degree in pulmonary science from Ozark Technical College in Springfield. He began his career as a respiratory therapist in Springfield, Missouri, and traveled extensively throughout the United States in this role until his retirement in 2012 due to health issues. In 2019, he relocated to Watertown, New York.
Otis had a passion for tennis and was an avid player. He also volunteered for the Red Cross for a brief time in Las Vegas.
Among his survivors are his sister Angela Smith of Springfield, Missouri, two nieces, Linda Popis and Tammy Emmert, several other nieces and nephews as well, and an aunt, Virginia Cannefax of Springfield, Missouri.
He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Karen Emmert and Juanita Emmert, and a brother, James Emmert.
Arrangements are with the Hart and Bruce Funeral Home. Per his wishes, Otis will be cremated, and there will be no services held at this time.
