Michael J. Roberts

Michael J. Roberts, age 75, of Watertown, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on October 28, 2024. Born on January 30, 1949, in Watertown, he was the beloved son of Frederick and Geraldine (Bigalow) Roberts.

Michael attended Watertown High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on February 16, 1966. Serving his country proudly during the Vietnam War, he was honorably discharged on June 10, 1969, at the rank of Corporal. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.

Returning home after his military service, Michael took on various roles in the Watertown area before settling into a career at Fort Drum, where he worked as a maintenance man until his retirement. 

Michael is survived by his brothers, Stephen and Terry Roberts of Watertown, NY; his sisters, Maureen Murphy of Buffalo, NY, and Bev (Bill) Chaplin of Florida; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, at North Watertown Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hart and Bruce Funeral Home.
