Marion Relph Obituary

Marion E. Relph, 96, Englewood, Florida, passed away on June 26, 2024.

Born October 9, 1927, in Gouverneur,NY, of the late William & Mary Belle Mills Hawn.  She graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1945, and attended Albany Business School, receiving a secretarial/Business degree.

She Married Robert Relph on July 10, 1965, at the United Methodist Church in Black River. The couple resided in Black River, Watertown, and Lakeland Florida.

Marion worked at Marine Midland Bank as an account manager in the credit department before working with her husband as co-owner of the R.G. Relph Insurance Agency of Black River, retiring in 1993

The couple spent their winters in Lakeland, Florida beginning in 1994, where they enjoyed the golfing community of Highland Fairways.  After Roberts' passing in 2019, Marion relocated to Englewood, Florida, to be near her son and daughter-in-law, Jack & Beth Gorman.

She is a former member of the Ives Hill Golf Club, treasurer for the Christian Women's Association of Watertown, Girl Scout leader, and Sunday school teacher. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, attending school and sporting events, and later on watching the couple's families grow.

Survivors include her son Jack (Beth) Gorman, Englewood, Florida, Two daughters Nancy (Eric) Buzzell, Keeseville,N.Y., Cindy (Neil) Cosgrove, Malone,N.Y., Stepson Robert (Dee) Relph, Rochester,N.Y., Stepdaughters Cheryl (Michael) Melnick, Greece,N.Y., Karen (Gary) Mehler, Lakeland,Florida, and Robyn Relph, Canandaigua,N.Y. 21 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.  She is also survived by a brother, William Hawn, Edwards,N.Y., and a sister, Judy Conklin, Canton,N.Y., and many nieces and nephews.

Marion is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Robert Relph Sr., a grandson, Shane Graham Bartholf, and a sister, Joanne Manning.

Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Home.  Per her request, she will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at the Black River Cemetery on Saturday, July 27th at 2 p.m. A celebration of life will follow at the Black River American Legion.
