James W. Scales, 73, of Morrison Ave., Watertown, passed away January 16, 2020 at the Samaritan Medical Center.
Arrangements are with the Hart& Bruce Funeral Home. It was his wish to be cremated and services will be held at the convenience of the family.
James was born on July 9, 1946 in Cape Vincent, NY, son of Evelyn Scales. At a very early age he worked on his grandfather’s farm where he also split and sold firewood off of the farm land. James would then begin a 35 year career on Fort Drum starting out as a butcher and working in the vegetable department at the PX and retiring as a heavy equipment operator.
He married Shirley Scales whom he was married to for several years prior to her passing away. On November 4, 1999 he met Marguerite A. Bush and they have been a couple for the past twenty years.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially his grandson Joshua, working in his vegetable garden and fishing.
Among his survivors are his beloved companion, Marguerite A. Bush, her two children, Donald George Bedore and Antoinette Ellen Bedore, 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, his Aunt Ruthie Jones, nephew, KT Jones and a sister in law, Marilyn Bush.
Besides his mother, his father and mother in law, George Henry and Marguerite Bush and a son, Richard Allen Bedore passed away before him.
