BLACK RIVER, NY – Frances M. Danks, 92, of Black River, passed away peacefully March 22, 2025 at The Grand in Rome, NY where she had been a resident.
Frances was born on January 16, 1933, in New York City, the daughter of George and Minnie (Drashe) Miller. In 1941, at the age of eight, she moved with her family to Black River, where she attended school.
On July 25, 1951, she married Otis Danks in Watertown, New York. The couple shared many years together before his passing on September 26, 1996. Frances worked as an inspector for Northland Manufacturing in Watertown for 42 years before retiring in 2003. Otis was employed as a printer at Fort Drum for 20 years.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures, watching birds, doing puzzle books, visiting the Adirondacks in the fall every year, traveling and one of her favorite destinations was Hawaii.
Frances is survived by her daughters, Diana (Barney) Jones of Carthage, NY, and Kathryn Carrigan of Watertown, NY; five grandchildren, Tobiah (Kozue) Jones, Justin (Pamela) Jones, Anne (Kevin) Nyland, Denise Carrigan and Phillip Carrigan; a great-grandson, Elias and a great-granddaughter, Madison; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Howard Miller; and her sisters, Laura Owens and Florence Hesse.
Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Home in Black River. A private burial will take place in Black River Cemetery.
