Eric James Gilchrist

Eric James Gilchrist, 47, of Brownville, NY, passed away on November 17, 2023, at Samaritan Medical Center after bravely battling heart disease.

He was born on December 28, 1975, son of Fred J. and Sharon A. (Fisher) Gilchrist. Eric graduated from General Brown High School. Following school he resided down south for several years before returning home.  Upon returning home he worked at Raymour and Flanigans in Albany and Watertown, and later at Walmart in Watertown before retiring due to health issues. His love for golf, swimming, traveling, fishing, and cherished moments with his friends,"the Brownville crew" at Dundee’s, reflected his vibrant spirit. Eric loved his dog, Shine and he was proud to be a member of the Sons of the Brownville American Legion.  

He is survived by father and mother, Fred and Sharon Gilchrist, Sackets Harbor, NY, a sister Shelly A. Gilchrist and her companion Mike Bercume of Messina, New York, nephew Ethan Carr, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Rose Fisher, and paternal grandparents, Fred and Onita Gilchrist.

Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Dexter. Burial will be held in Dexter Cemetery at the convenience of the family. 

A celebration of life will be held at the Brownville American Legion on Saturday, November 25th at 1 p.m.
