Doris R. Lees, 72, of Black River, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2025.
She was born in Watertown, NY, on October 25, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Mary (Mallette) Ramie.
Doris graduated from Immaculate Heart Central in 1971. She began her career at Woolworths before taking a position at the County Treasurers Office, where she worked for five years. She later accepted a role as an Account Principal Clerk at Indian River Central School District, where she remained until her retirement.
Doris married the love of her life and best friend, William Lees, on June 22, 1977, in Lake George. They shared 47 wonderful years together, always supporting and cherishing one another.
She was a proud member of the Black River Auxiliary Post 673 and enjoyed watching horse races, cheering on NASCAR, and playing bingo. Doris and her husband were avid NASCAR fans, making an annual trip to the races together until the pandemic interrupted their tradition.
She is survived by her devoted husband, William, and her beloved cat, Pixie. She also leaves behind her brothers: Allen Ramie and his wife, Miriam, of Boston; Edward Ramie; and Steven Ramie of South Carolina; her sister-in-law, Marie Ramie, of Missouri; several nieces and nephews, including her adoring niece, Laura Mahon. She was predeceased by her sisters; Linda Martino, Mary Mahon, and Diane Filak.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 13, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Bruce Funeral Home , Black River and Friday, February 14, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with the funeral to follow at 12:00 PM. A spring burial will take place in Black River Cemetery on Saturday, May 10th at 2 p.m.
