Dorinda Lynn Stickel

Dorinda Lynn Stickel, 61, of Watertown, NY, passed away on October 22, 2024, at Samaritan Medical Center after an eight-year battle with lung cancer. 

Born on January 15, 1963, in Watertown, NY, she was the daughter of Clarence and Margaret (O’Hara) Young. Dorinda attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Watertown High School. 

In 1983, she married Waldo Stickel, with whom she had two sons. They shared 21 years of marriage before divorcing. 

Dorinda began her career in 1995 as a postal clerk at the Syracuse Post Office. She was later transferred to Star Lake, where she became head clerk, and ultimately completed her career at the Watertown Post Office. She worked there until her illness made it impossible to continue. 

Her children and grandchildren were the center of Dorinda’s world. She loved traveling, shopping, and was a passionate Watertown Wolves hockey fan. Known for her adventurous spirit, she enjoyed riding motorcycles and getting tattoos with family and friends. Dorinda cherished her time spent with her best friend, Bobbie Jo Monaghan, with whom she shared countless unforgettable memories. 

Among her survivors are her two sons, Eric M. Stickel of Watertown and Gregory E. Stickel and his wife Amanda M.of Watertown; three grandchildren, Joshua, Alexandria, and Avalynn; her beloved dogs, Luna and Nala; her sisters, Sharon (Bob) Marshall and Karen (Donald) Hall, both of Syracuse, NY; her brother-in-law, Stanley “Butch” LaSage of Brownville, NY; and several nieces and nephews. 

Besides her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Donna LaSage and a brother, Kevin "Pete" Young.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hart & Bruce Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Sanford Corners Cemetery.

 A celebration of life will be held on November 2nd  from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Watertown American Legion.
