Donna Comet Obituary

Donna A. Comet, of Watertown, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.

She was born on November 11, 1936, in Watertown, the daughter of Millard and Marjorie Wicks Farmer. Donna graduated from Watertown’s High School in 1955. On September 1, 1956, she married Harry M. Comet at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church.

Mr. Comet proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and Army Reserves from 1953 until 1994.

Donna was a devoted homemaker, and once her children were grown, she began working outside the home at W.T. Grants, Kmart, and the Fort Drum Exchange. She also provided in-home childcare for over 20 years, lovingly caring for many children—some across two generations. Donna volunteered with Hospice for more than 20 years and found joy in ceramics and crafting.

She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 69 years, Harry M. Comet of Watertown; her daughter, Grace A. Comet; four sons, Michael H. (Mary E.) Comet of Lowville, Joseph B. Comet of Oklahoma City, Gregory J. Comet, and Jeffrey M. Comet, both of Watertown; three sisters, Dolores, Maxine, and Jacqueline; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Donna was predeceased by her brother, Douglas Farmer.

Arrangements are with Hart & Bruce Funeral Home. In keeping with Donna’s wishes, she will be cremated, and burial will take place at the convenience of the family in North Watertown Cemetery.  Additionally, a memorial gathering will be held for family and friends to share their many fond memories of Donna.

The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and nursing staff of Samaritan Medical Center for their loving care during this final journey.  We would also like to give our love and sincere thanks to John and Bonnie Allen, Jana Skinner, and the many friends that came to visit and brighten our days.

In lieu of flowers, we would greatly appreciate any donations in her memory to be made to the Genealogy Department, c/o Flower Memorial Library, 229 Washington Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
