Dawn Collette Obituary

Dawn M. Collette, 65, of West Main Street, Watertown, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Hospice of Jefferson County, surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness.

Born on August 13, 1959, in Canton, New York, Dawn was the daughter of Barbara Dennee. She graduated from Indian River High School in 1978. That same year, on January 20, she married the love of her life, Stephen M. Collette, in Antwerp, and together they built a life filled with love and devotion in Watertown.

For over 31 years, Dawn dedicated herself to teaching at the CAPC Head Start/Pre-K program, nurturing countless young minds with warmth and kindness. She had a gift for making every child feel valued and loved, a reflection of the deep care she had for her own family.

Dawn was the matriarch of the family, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an adoring grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren, making every moment special with her unwavering love and gentle spirit. Whether it was a family barbecue, a road trip, or a quiet meal at a local diner, she cherished every second with those she loved. Her presence brought warmth and laughter to every gathering, and her love will forever be felt by those she leaves behind.

Dawn is survived by her daughter, Destinee Collette of Watertown; her son, Stephen Collette and his wife, Stacy, of Watertown; and her seven treasured grandchildren: Amarah Gilligan, Cadence Collette, Kasey Collette, Brodee Gilligan, Dyanee Collette, Kehlani Minter, and Cassandra Bolster. She is also survived by her siblings, Charles Skellen of Watertown, Rose Dingman of New Jersey, Lou Ellen Bissell of Oregon, and Karen Peterson of Watertown, as well as her nieces and nephews; Angela, Michelle, Carina, Leon, Charles, Paula, Travis, Jayde, and Talon, as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 15, from noon until 2 p.m. at Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m.

In honor of her memory, donations may be made to the Huntington Disease Society at hdsa.org

Dawn’s love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
