David T. Smith

David T. Smith, 77, of Watertown, NY, passed away at his home on August 6, 2025.

Born on July 29, 1948, in Watertown, he was the son of the late Clifford C. and Beatrice M. (Dumoulin) Smith. David was a 1966 graduate of Watertown High School.

He began his career working at Severance Photo in Watertown where he worked for many years.  David then went to work at Chapin’s Watermaticsbefore leaving there to become a chef at the Jefferson County Jail. He returned to Chapin’s Watermatics, where he worked until his retirement following 31 years of service.

In June 1970, he married Suzanne Serow of Sackets Harbor. Together, they had one daughter, Michele, before their marriage ended in divorce.

David was a kind, gentle, and giving person who deeply enjoyed photography, fishing, and hunting.

Among his survivors are his beloved daughter, Michele L. M. Smith; his nephew and his wife, Alan and Anne Smith of New York; a great-niece, Meah, and a great-nephew, Brendan.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother and sister in law, Terrence and Eleanor Smith.

It was David’s wish to be cremated. There will be no calling hours or funeral service.  Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in North Watertown Cemetery.
