David J. Hutt

David J. Hutt, 78, formerly of Black River, NY, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, at Samaritan Medical Center.

He was born on November 5, 1947, in Carthage, New York, the son of Oscar and Norma Hutt. David attended Carthage Central High School. On December 3, 1983, he married Judy V. Nevills in Carthage. The couple made their home in Black River, where they owned and operated Jreck Subs for several years until its closing. In 2012, they moved to Watertown.

Throughout his career, David also worked as a chef for various local businesses.

Among his survivors are his son, Scott A. Hutt of Watertown, NY; his brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Gayle Hutt of Carthage, NY; his sister, Terri Ledo of Carthage, NY; three sisters-in-law Nancy (Jim) Parker of Black River, NY; Helen Pierce and Shirley Nevill both of Carthage, NY and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Judy Hutt, on March 2, 2021, and his brother, Donnie Hutt.

Arrangements are entrusted to Bruce Funeral Home, Black River. It was David’s wish to be cremated, and there will be no services at this time.
