David E. Dillon, 77, of 151 LeRay St., Black River, passed April 13, 2018 at the Samaritan Summit Village where he had been a resident for a short time.
Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River. There will be no calling hours or funeral service. Mr. Dillon's wishes were to be cremated and the burial to be at the convenience of the family in Black River Cemetery.
He was born on August 11, 1940 in Carthage, NY, son of Francis James Dillon and Vivian Prior, he graduated from Carthage Central High School in 1960.
He married Beulah D. Ormiston on September 2, 1962 at the First Methodist Church in Carthage. The couple resided in Carthage until they settled in Black River in July of 1974.
Mr. Dillon worked at Carthage Machine Co., as a welder, from 1962 up until he retired in 1998. His wife worked 18 years for NYS Office of Mental Health, retiring in 1999.
The couple enjoyed camping, he enjoyed fishing and was a history buff always reading a history book or watching a movie about history. He was a founding member of the Carthage Area Ambulance Squad, founding member of the Black River Ambulance Squad, former member of the Black River Fire Department, and in the 60' and 70's he played the drums in local country rock bands.
Among his survivors are his beloved wife, Beulah D. Dillon, Black River, a brother-in-law, Roger E. Ormiston, three grandchildren, Darcee and her husband Jacob Prior, Melanie V. Dillon, Logan D. Dillon, two great grandchildren, Thomas Miles Prior and Callie Renee Prior, many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son,Thomas Dillon on December 24, 1998 and two brothers Francis L. "Jim" Dillon and Thomas P. Dillon.
