Cathy M. Anderson

Cathy M. Anderson, 66, of Watertown, New York, passed away at her home on September 7, 2025.

She was born on June 4, 1959, in Watertown, the daughter of Eugene E. and Alpha M. (Rudd) Calhoun. Cathy attended Watertown High School and, following graduation, devoted several years to caring for her beloved grandmother. After her passing, Cathy pursued higher education at Jefferson Community College, where she met Michael Anderson. The two were married on June 8, 1996, at Saint Paul’s Church in Watertown.

Cathy continued her education at SUNY Potsdam and ultimately earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from SUNY Oswego. She began her career as a social worker in the emergency department at Samaritan Medical Center in 2002, where she served with dedication and compassion until retiring due to health issues.

Cathy had a deep love for animals and found joy in writing poetry and stories throughout her life.

Among her survivors are her sister and brother-in-law, Linda L. and Richard L. Merryman of Adams, NY; two nieces, Susan and John Lietuvininkas and Debra Merryman; a nephew, Richard E. Merryman; and two great-nephews, Avery and Andy.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michael E. Anderson, on September 1, 2016; her parents; and her brother, Melvin Rudd.

Calling hours will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 11, at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, 117 N. Massey Street, Watertown. 

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 12, at the funeral home, with burial to follow in North Watertown Cemetery.
