Carolyn E. Shepard

Carolyn E. Shepard, 86, passed away on November 15, 2025, at the Samaritan Summit Village, where she had been a resident. Born July 23, 1939, in Calcium, New York, she was the daughter of Harold and Mary Dean. Carolyn graduated from Lyme Central School.

On September 23, 1962, she married Norton Shepard of Evans Mills in Evans Mills, New York. The couple made their home in Black River from 1969 until 2008, when they moved to Watertown. Norton, who worked as a timekeeper at Black Clawson, predeceased her in 2018.

Carolyn worked as a store clerk at Sears & Roebuck and at Baker’s Pharmacy in Watertown. She was also a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, watching birds, and spending time outdoors.

Among her survivors are her son, Michael S. Shepard of Watertown; her brother, Raymond Dean of Norfolk, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister and brother in law, Mary  and Allen Ehlers; two brothers and two sisters in law, Paul Dean, David (Ellen) Dean, and Shelly Dean.

Arrangements are with Hart & Bruce Funeral Home. There will be no services at this time.
