Betty Weeden Obituary


Betty J. (Keegan) Weeden, 86, was a resident at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home.  She passed January 18, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Nancy Keegan on Moffatt Road in Dexter, where she was under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County and surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 24, 1931 in Lowville, daughter of Howard and Thelma Cameron Wilkinson.so

She graduated from Chaumont High School and then attended the Watertown Business School of Commerce in Watertown.  She married Robert Keegan on June 2, 1951 in Watertown.  She worked for Dr. Sturtz and Brown as a receptionist, Massey’s Furniture Barn, National Bank, and retired from Fort Drum where she was a receptionist in medical billing.

Betty enjoyed sewing, bowling, square dancing and fishing.

She is survived by six children and their spouses, John and Laurie Keegan, Sackets Harbor, James “ Jim” Keegan, Chaumont, R. Michael Keegan, Chaumont, Nancy Keegan and Kathy Pate, Dexter Susan Keegan, Dexter, , Edward and Bobbie Keegan, Clearwater, FL, two sisters, Mary Lou Garnsey, Brownville, Beverly Quencer, Brownville, 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband a daughter Patricia Miner and son David Keegan passed before her.

Arrangements are with the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.  Her body was donated to the Upstate Medical University Anatomical Gift Program.
