Betty Brady Obituary

Betty A. Brady, 60, of Watertown, passed away on May 4, 2018 at her home where she was being cared for by her family and Hospice of Jefferson County following a long battle with cancer.

There will be no calling hours or funeral service.  Arrangements are with Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.

At her request she will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held this summer at the Emmanuel Congregational Church in Watertown.

She was born on March 8, 1958 in Watertown, NY, daughter of Charles and Rebecca (Kurtz) Mertz.  She graduated from Watertown High School and went on to attend Jefferson Community College.

Following school she worked at the Henry Keep and Curtis Apartments as their Senior Activity Coordinator, she worked at Garland City Auto Parts on Mills St., and as a retail manager at the Salmon Run Mall for various retail stores up until she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2010.

She married Glenn Brady on December 11, 1995 at the Emmanuel Congregational Church on Watertown with Rev. Patty Farr officiating. 

Betty began teaching Sunday school as a teenager at First Presbyterian Church and continued at the Emmanuel Congregational Church where she was an active member up until 2017.  She loved spending time with her family and doing crafts.

Among her survivors are her loving husband, Glenn Brady, her beloved daughter, Morgan Grace Brady, her sister, Carol Mertz and her companion, Larry Schmidt, Watertown, a brother, William C. Mertz, Watertown, a sister in law, Virginia “Kara” Brady, her brother in law and his wife, William C. and Maria Brady and their daughter Karen Brady, Wisconsin.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY 13601.
