Anthony J. Norman Sr., of Franklin St., Watertown, passed away December 24, 2019 at the Samaritan Medical Center.
Born on April 21, 1955 in Henry County, VA, son of Arthur C. and Mildred (Wade) Norman, he graduated from high school in Norfolk, VA. He entered the Army on August 8, 1973 and served in Vietnam. Anthony was honorably discharged on September 12, 1983 as a Sergeant and received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Rifle M-16 Sharpshooter Badge, and Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon.
He married Melissa Kerr on June 11, 1995. The couple moved to Jacksonville, FL where he became a chef working at various restaurants, spending his longest time at Sun Dog Diner. The couple returned to Watertown in 2009 and he continued to work as a chef at Mercy Hospital, Burger King, TGIF and Cracker Barrel, retiring in 2017.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports and hiking.
Among his survivors are his wife, Melissa M. Norman, Watertown his five children, Charles Kerr, Jacksonville, FL, Bridgette Norman, Watertown, Devin Norman and his fiancé Janielle Martin, Watertown, Anthony J. Norman Jr., and Lakeisha Norman, Fayetteville, NC, 7 grandchildren, three brothers, a sister and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are with the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours or funeral service. His wish was to be cremated and burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
