Andy P. O’Brien Obituary

Andy P. O’Brien age 53 of Amherst, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday November 2, 2025. Andy was born on February 8, 1972, the son of Jackie and Susan (McLean) O’Brien. Andy married Lori Toftum on October 18, 1997.

How can you sum up a life with just a few words? A lifelong hard worker, Andy dedicated his life to providing for his family and serving his community. From his early days running a paper route, to UPS, to over 20 years with H.O. Wolding, and later as a respected bar owner and Tavern League President, he poured his heart into everything he did. Whether on the road or behind the bar, he was known for his humour, generosity, and ability to befriend anyone.

Andy always lived his life “full on.” He was never one to hold back his thoughts - known for his strong opinions and his unshakeable confidence in them - and that honesty was part of what made him so deeply respected and loved. You always knew where you stood with Andy, and behind that tough honesty was a heart of gold and a deep loyalty to those he cared about.

At home, he was a devoted husband and an amazing father, and a proud “Chop-Chop” who loved his family fiercely. He found joy in the simple things - good company, live music, Sunday cruises on the pontoon, playing darts with his sons, and a conversation with friends that could stretch into the night.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lori O’Brien, his children, Hannah (Charles) Wilson, Dawson (Lauren Scheneman), Owen (Emma Raasch), Luke, and Breleigh O’Brien, his grandson, Brecken Wilson, his siblings, Pam Beyor, and Jim (Lisa) Beyor, mother/father-in-law Bonnie (John) Jastromski, many other in-laws, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, his parents, Jackie and Susan O’Brien, his father-in-law, Mark Toftum, and sister in-law, Jessica Bremmer.

Andy will be remembered for his hard work, humour, fierce opinions, and the love he shared with anyone lucky enough to know him. His laughter, integrity, and larger-than-life spirit will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday November 6, 2025 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst, WI.
