Nina E. Rivers

Nina Edna Rivers, 86, of 116 Regatta Lane Mooresville, NC and formerly of 30848 Burnup Rd. Black River, passed away October 6, 2019 in NC.

Arrangements are with Bruce Funeral Home, Black River. Calling hours will be from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, October 12th, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Black River Cemetery.

She was born September 14, 1933 in Dickinson Center, NY, daughter of Raymond and Etta Mae Clark Wiley.

Nina moved to Black River in 1951 and married Arthur J. Rivers of Watertown, NY on February 3, 1952.  The couple resided in Black River for 47 years.   She provided homecare in NNY and later attended BOCES where she received a degree to be a Certified Nurse’s Aide.  She worked at the Academy Adult home, Kinney Drugs in Northland Plaza, and Barbalich’s Meat Market.  She would return to homecare before retiring.

In May of 2013 she moved to NC to live with her daughter and family when she was no longer able to live alone.  While in NC she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles.  She was also a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Among her survivors are her five sons and three daughters in law, David A. (Marlene) Rivers, Peterborough, Ontario, Floyd J. ( Kathleen) Rivers, Glenfield, NY, Ricky R. (Lynn) Rivers, Lacona, NY, Robert J. Rivers, Clayton, NY, Terry A. Rivers, Adams Center, NY, two daughters and their husbands, Marietta B. (Kevin) Kitto Sackets Harbor, NY, Rebecca M. (Joseph) Lambert, Mooresville, NC, 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, her husband Arthur Rivers passed away January 25, 2000, two brothers, five sisters, a step daughter, Beverly Perrigo and a daughter in law, April Rivers all predeceased her.
